Privacy should not depend on knowing which hidden menu to open. Page protection, cookie policy, blocked pop-ups, reputation, and site access belong in one understandable place.

Protection works before you ask.

Epoch begins with ad and known-tracker filtering, third-party-cookie protection, HTTPS upgrades, and Global Privacy Control already working.

A site has to ask.

Camera, microphone, location, notifications, clipboard reading, protected content, and pop-ups stay visible and can be allowed once, remembered, blocked, or reset per site.

A clean verdict has to be earned.

Downloads are inspected before opening. Epoch never calls a file clean when protection is unavailable, rechecks the file before use, and never launches executables for you.

AI does not inherit your browser.

Charles stays behind explicit modes and approvals. Passwords, cookies, session tokens, payment data, and MFA stay out of model context, and CAPTCHAs stay with the person.

Private is the starting point—not a special window.

Browsing, account access, protection, and assistance are designed as one experience. The goal is not another stack of extensions. It is fewer hidden decisions and less authority handed away by default.

Kept on the device.

History, settings, and usage stay local in current internal builds. Signing in does not turn browsing history into general account sync.

No profile to monetize.

Epoch is not being built around an advertising profile or the sale of browsing activity. Protection is the product—not a setting beside an ad business.

Exceptions stay narrow.

If a site needs more access, you can change that site without weakening the default everywhere else. Saved choices remain visible and reversible.

No browser can promise that every site, file, or attack is harmless. Epoch is built to fail closed where it can, say when protection is unavailable, and keep overrides visible.
